I have had couple of mechanics in Thailand tell me that the 1UZ engine runs on 4 cylinders when you just potter around but that it fires all the 8 cylinders up when you push your foot down. I was not aware of this in my 1991 model, are the later models different or is the case with all of them or were there some different models for Asia? Interested to hear any thing on this as I am fitting a 1996 model into my Holden. If this rumor that I hear is true then does the system ever go wrong? Cheers John
