I'm pretty sure everyone is just having a bit of "tongue in cheek" fun and paying out a car that they actually love..
Correct.
I have two of the things, but that doesn't mean I am blind to the flaws in the car.
Thank you Toyota for designing the rear end in such a fashion that you have to completely disassemble the rear axle group just to change a wheel bearing.

Dear Toyota, thanks for making the remote for central locking $600, it really makes my day. I'd much rather buying a full aftermarket alarm system for a faction of that
Funny you should mention that, I lost my key and am up for $500-$600 for a New blank+Remote+Chip, to make things worst I have to prove to Toyota Japan that I have my car registered in Japan (Security Reasons) which is not possible Woohoo

Gawd, the first thing I do when I get a car with factory remote locking is replace it with an aftermarket alarm system - factory systems are usually pretty particularly in older vehicles - as I recall the Soarer one is a single button, so you are never sure if you have just locked or unlocked your car right? And even with a fresh battery in the key I seem to remember it not working from more than about two meters away.

Dear Toyota, Thank you for making a car that has aged and continues to age gracefully. One that still looks modern and sounds like a pride of really pissed off lions rather then a swarm of fat bees when you put your boot into it. Thank you for the smile it puts on my face even when I just took the skin of knuckle number 4 trying to undo some bolt that hasn't been touched in 19 years. Seriously though WTF were you thinking putting the alternator below the power steering pump??? and why can't I re-condition my TEMS air struts? I don't wanna buy coil overs Mr Toyoda
