last month i decided to get a Large K&N pod filter thinking it will improve the performance of my V*. well. long story short. it does not suit soarer's very well. it sucks up more fuel and sort od push's the torque band higher up. making the car feel sluggish and slow to get going. yesterday i did a BFI with a TRD filter and cold air intake. man did it make a difference in how the car feels. so the story is. don't waste your cash on pod filters. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A COOL BOX FOR IT.

Stephen, I think you just had a dud, I've been running a pod in a sealed box on my car pretty much since day one and it's never been better. Perhaps V8 and TT's are different in that regard.

yes i had a cool box made for it . with a cold air feed. i think it only effects with NA cars. i know that the K&N pod's do wonders for boosted cars. but now with the TRD filter+BFI and cold air feed. the car pics up lot quicker. and the fuel usage has dropped so much.

Nice to hear Stephen,
This fool I knew put a 'Pod filter' on his V8 Soarer, I told him that he would loose power slightly and not gain anything, your better off to do a BFI - I'll show you how to make one up - it will work much better... But he persisted in using his K&N filter so I said its up to you! I figured it would be a good opportunity to see what they are actually like... After he fitted it, I took it for a drive, the results were horrible, sounded nasty and was not any faster. I just had to laugh.... they certainly are a waste of time and money!
The BFI can't really be beat Definitely the cheapest and best modification - Fun to make, Gets better flow, therefore more power and sounds brilliant, especially at 7500 rpm on my V8.

it's just a temp solution to hold the tubes in place. will be making a duct to hold the tubes flush to the front bar soon. and the most important thing for me is functionality. didn't really care about the looks when i got that done...lol

I had a pod for a while on my V8 too, but one day when I put the stock box back on and did something similar to what you have done I noticed a lot of difference, it had much better take off and much less intake noise, was very noticeable. On V8's it makes a difference but with a Turbo pod filters don't decrease the power really I found. I hav'nt really experimented on a turbo car yet, just guessing

why would it attract attentions unless you do dumb things....
That is a dumb attitude, the car itself attracts attention so you are buggered from the beginning, remember it's not a Corolla.
Also - I have sort of the same set up as you, except my hosing is black leading to my cold air box and I have the hoses tucked behind the bar sitting on the intercooler pipe where it can't be seen. It works well.
