Hey All.
Just did my starter motor (and fixed the fuel problem) Saw one of the knock sensors was looking a bit worn.. The engine starts but only for about 2 seconds.
Checked the same knock sensor and it has snapped out.
This i guess would contribute to the firing and then shutting down.
Just want to confirm that it wont run without the sensor.. like limp mode?
I will have to fins a new sensor (tomorrow, good luck to me) but want to ensure that this is the cause of it not running at all

fwiw, Daniel is right, the car will still start and run ok without a knock sensor until you hit about 20km/h, then it will warn and go into limp mode... I would be looking else where for your fix, notwithstanding you should fix the knock sensors if they are known to be faulty...

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the help, did the knock sensor and as you have advised same issue.
I'm Starting to believe Fuel pump ECU issues.. they fuel pump is unusually loud when key is ON but not cranking.
How do i go about fixing this problem? could it have come due to the cross polaritising battery issue i had? (yes i dont know how to spell Polaritising)

I have finally been able to upload a picture, my pug looks like this but has no markings.
As you can see i tried two of the ports as i found a diagram from an Arabic websir=te, the plug was slightly different so i gave it a shot anyway with no luck.
Can someone confirm that this was the right two ports to bridge?
if so and it didnt work.. where too from here?
P.S that weird stuff in the plug is like gap filler... i dont know why, this car has some strangeness about it.

Hey all, just tried the jump again, along with checking all engine and in car fuses.. starting too get emotional....
I have uploaded two videos.. one shows what happens when try start it (yes it is upside down) The other is the noise of the fuel pump.. ridiculously loud.. thats without the jumper connected...here is photobucket link http://s1181.photobucket.com/albums/x438/1jzt04/
Does anyone think that maybe when i cross polaritised the battery i may have fried the Main ECU?
Anyone on the lower gold coast who would be keen to come and diagnose the problem over the weekend and over a few beers?

Hey all, i have some new intel. I have tested the AFM (the car should run without it connected, rought but should run) it has no affect on the vehicle issue
Also i tested the voltage to the fuel pump.. ran 10.5 with just the key at the "on" position, dropped during crank as it should and then when it id start went over 11 volt..
So we can safely say there is no issue with AIR or FUEl.. also as it does start and i have checked spark we can cancel that out too.....
im thinking ECU is fired, it must let the car start then cut out the ignition or the fuel. Have also tested the Fuel pump by bypassing and this has no affect, so the Pump ECU seems ok ..... Any comments on the decision it may be main ECU, does this sound like it may be the issue?
Also anyone willing to come to tweed (Gold Coast) for some cash and hombrew beer to see if their ECU will run, this is a Celsior Engine though not a Soarer..
Would prefer to test with a good one to make sure this is an issue if anyone would be so kind

I have been reading through your thread, sounds like you have had a bit of a headache the last couple of weeks.
Did the car run ok before the starter motor was replaced and what was the fuel problem that was fixed when this was done?
To replace the starter motor the inlet manifold would have had to have been removed, I would be checking that all electrical connectors and fittings have been refitted paying close attention to the cold start valve connector at the back of the manifold.

Hi Ross, yes it was a manifold off job, all connectors were put back in their rightful places though..main harness (diagnostics) and another smaller connector at the back of the manifold. the fuel problem was finding the right size copper washers for the fuel line into the centre of the manifold. was running fine prior to all this, but the battery was crossed at one stage during this saga.
The issue i have is the Diagnostics is for the original engine, no idea where they have put the 1u diagnostics.. suppose i better start to un-tape all the harnesses to find it.... Also the dash is cressida and not wired correctly (engine light always on) so dont think it will work unfortunately
