Just recently my 31 sounds like a lawn mower, i looked under the car at the exhaust to see if i can pin point where the noise is coming from.
It looks like its coming from the cats and not the actual exhaust pipe.
Just wondering if this can be fixed or im better off replacing the cats?

above the cats, check the 4 nuts on the flange.
mine were all loose.

I ripped a baffle open in my muffler on my stock exhaust a few years back. When the car warmed up, it had a horrible drone on the left bank.
A cat back fixed this issue.

The ceramics can come loose inside the cat (the dreaded cat death rattle) - might not be that serious though.

Shouldnt be over 1k, good cats will probably be 1/2 the cost of the whole exhaust, they arent cheap.
