i recently brought a 2nd hand power steering pump. i had it rekitted put on my soarer. the steering not as light as it used to be and is slightly heavy around car parks etc and is the same at 100km. i changed the valve and still the same. has anyone got any ideas?

1) did you bleed it? jack the car up and go to full lock and hold for a few secs. then repeat on opposite lock. do this a few times. 2) adjacent to the pump, iether on the chassis rail or below it is an elect plug. if it is unplugged steering will be heavier

Im having the exact same issue. power steering pump died, so i brought a reconditioned one. It has power steering now, but having the same issue in the car parks, and is not what it should be while driving.....

At one stage i started rebuilding pumps on an exchange system, but soon found the old pumps coming back were worn ,paddles ,cam, etc. The main thing is to line up the dots on reassemble and round side of the paddle outward also the sliding valve must slid easy up and down.
