Wow Mario, that swap of everything, what a job. That is not the 32 that you have now, hey. The a/c compressor that I have on my 32 looks to be a new one a couple of years ago, so shouldn't have any issues with it I hope.
At the moment I am sanding back the body for some paint work. After that I will start on the upper strut fix to stop the suspension dropping when it sits. It sinks more on the left first and doesn't like to come right up as quickly on that side when I start it up and the pump tries to make up for the leak.
Bit by bit.
I just replaced the drivers door hinge, which was sagged something terrible damaging the door, which I am fixing at the moment.

Hi 32's, I have a tear in my left hand main steering rack boot and when I look at the parts list on Toyodiy it looks like the 31 rack as on the 32 there are 2 boots together, I am supposing that the small one relates somehow to the tie up with the rear steering, am I right? There is a bracket that ties to the 2 racks together. Anyway can someone help me for sure with the part number and any special things to look out for when changing these boots.
Also I have an oil leak from the front of the sump of the engine, it is just bad enough to stop me getting a RWC for rego I think, any tricks apart from pulling the motor to replace gaskets and a seal of some sort that I can see there at the front of the sump at the back of the harmonic balance pulley?
Thanks for any help Cheers John

Yes, the smaller one is the interconnect to the rear steering rack. Follow the workshop manual and you'll be fine.
Is the leak from the sump or the front main seal?? Sump is sealed with FIPG, Front main means pulling all the front stuff off the same as doing a 100k service.

Hi Dan, fine about the front seal, so hope it is not bad enough to have to do that to get rego. wHAT DO you think: is toyota FIPG better than Permatex and which colour do you recommend, as I am about to do a trans flush?
Is there a 32 manual? or do you mean that there is nothing special about the rack boot? It is different from the 31.

There is a '32 manual. It's called the soarer bible. It's in Jap but you can follow the pictures pretty well.
Available from Jeff Harper, F1 kits. I think he has a section on this site.
Toyota vs permatex pretty much same same. Toyota is probably a bit better. Read the label and get whatever colour suits the application. From memory the Toyota stuff is black for engine oil stuff and red for gear oil stuff, but not certain.

Hi Dan, I got the permatex from Burson's ($16) for half the price of the FIPG, which was $36. The Permatex that I got is a special formula for ATF. I have the soarer bible but I do not have any section that I can find on the 32. Cheers John

There's not a specific '32 section of the bible. If you're looking at steering stuff it will be in the steering section along with the rest of the models, just a page or two over.

I found the section on the 4 wheel steering in the Japan section of the Soarer Bible and got the idea on how to get the left hand boot of the rack. I used a long 7/8 open ended spanner with a pipe on it to hold the shaft and my 1 centremeter thick duck bill stillsens to unscrew the large fitting that holds the ball joint of the steering tie rod.
The problem then was to get a rack boot, which are no longer made by toyota and no alternative offered, I contacted Japan on this. Nothing in Repco or Bursons looks anything like it with both ends 60mls ID and 220mls length with thin walls so that it can squash up tight with the long throw on the steering on these 32s. What to do? I went to a 4 wheel drive shop but no luck, Ahh, What about a bike shop. That did it. A silicon type rubber shock cover from a Yamaha trail bike, which I cut to length, it had a 60ml one end. I then cut off the 60ml end off the old boot and put it inside the consatina end that now did not have a part to put a clamp on and put a zip tie on it, which pulled down on the old rubber end that fitted nicely into the slot on the outer pipe of the rack , on the right hand end of the left hand boot. Voila!!! Great.
Anyone need a rack boot to do theirs? I have a spare one that you can have for $16 plus postage, I had to buy 2.
Just an extra note re taking off ball joints: I have broken 2 Stanley super cheap ball joint removers on this car so far and found that if you tighten the bolt up, but not to the extreme, and leave it, rather than just try to make it work all at once with maximum pressure, which broke it, it may just pop itself off as the pressure takes effect. It did for me, great! other might know this but live and learn. Cheers John
