Hey guys,

Attached are some pics.

Car seems to be running fine/well except for:
1. a decent amount of steam on startup,
2. taking a while to spark/turn over - this is my 3rd new battery (which I assume is also under powered - won't make the same mistake again) - I anticipated a problem with the power steering pump and alternator
3. The immobiliser/central locking remote no longer works, changed batteries etc.
4. Cat light is always on - even freezing cold morning, since I had the extractors installed.
5. Does anyone know how to reseal the doors. Under the rear seats is a puddle of water I keep having to clean up!!!

and....

is this ECU fried? Cars smooth driving and everything would indicate its not but all the goo etc didn't look healthy!

I've read the article on the re-installation of the car immobiliser helping battery draining problems on 91 - 95 models.

Just to give you details - Battery is a 460CC. It's a 91 UZZ31 V8, BFI + larger intake pipe, Rush extractors, magnaflow high flow cats > 2.25" + X pipe and Lukey ultra flows.

I have the e-manage ultimate + harness waiting for a MAF-Less tune at home waiting to be installed and tuned and I have just changed flushed the oil and done a minor service. Before the dyno tune I want to fix the immobilizer; battery/alternator problem and AC. Everything internally engine wise seems to be sounding healthy except the noise of the shimmers is a little annoying with the extractors!

Oh and whats that on/off switch in the boot!!

Anyway, here t'is

(Oh and what is this box - immobiliser sensor/receiver? I know nothing of electronics)

that is grease in the plug . it is there to keep moisture out. It is the diagnostic plug that allows you to check for error codes.

switch in boot is for the airbag suspension. Have you got coil overs , or airbag suspension?

When the switch is OFF, you get an error message on the clock display if you are still on airbags.

battery should be ~700 rating.

Sunroof ? Search for water under seats , there is a drain tube that causes this .

Could you please elaborate Daniel?

If I remove the back seats where should this drain tube exit/be located/have a leak? (I'm having trouble visuallising it)

And yes the sunroof seems to leak as well.

What the hell is draining my battery so quickly!!! Like I had the lights and the stereo on for less than 5 minutes the other night because I hopped out of the car for a smoke and then had to get a jump start. I've had about three jump starts in the last fortnight!

the requires a 700 battery, not a 460 that you have,

The electronics (EMV draws amps)draw a lot of current.

I'll take a look at my V8 for you, but I had no cat light when the extractors were installed.

I had the o2 sensor installed, but that was it. As for the cat light, I think that was not plugged in anymore. I think it was taped up and hidden away.

The goo is normal, so don't stress about that.

Get the biggest battery you can to fit. I think mine is a 550cca.

On/Off switch in the boot is for the air suspension. If you've got coils and the airbags are removed, don't worry. If you still have the factory airbags, just leave it on.

Hey James mate,

Kept the stock airbag suspension. I like to think lex put plenty of R&D into it and the idea of leaving it stock sits well :-)

What about this thread I started. For once I typed in toyota soarer and it gave me this battery:

Open your sunroof.
In each corner there is a drain hole.
Compressed air is your friend to clear debree.
Or a piece of wire but I snagged the tube and had to remove hood lining to reattach. I'd recommend air nozzle

Drain tubes run down front piller and drain behind inner gaurd plastic in front of firewall.

Rear drainage which is probly your problem
Runs down piller into. Boot behind side panels and should run through just behind rear mudflap area.

The cat light might be telling you that the P/S fluid has leaked into the alternator, so the system isn't charging properly.
