It is part of an idle up feature for the motor when the power steering pump is under load. Just make and glue another nipple in place of the broken one

Ok, all fixed now, got a spare from Bond Auto Tech, only difference is one of the pipes is smaller in the replacement part, would it make much difference?
The smaller of the 2 holes facing upwards is the one that's different,

the small hose goes to the power steering pump, goes thru a "switch" and back up to the engine above the thermostat. It increases revs when on full steering lock to prevent stalling.
Sometimes the switch is faulty and will allow power steering fluid to seep thru and be burnt in the engine. It can be blocked off(both ends of the hoses, airbox input and engine above the thermostat i have been told.

As Tom says, it most certainly can. For the cost of a high tensile bolt, I replaced the vacuum idle up sensor for the power steering pump, which attaches to the back of the banjo bolt on the pump. I then taped over the hole left where the hose attached to the side of the air box. I also put another bolt into the manifold where the other hose attached and have had no issues at all.
