I'm getting a noise from the belt on acceleration, i've cleaned the belt with a wire brush to remove glazing but it is still the same.

I know it can be difficult to diagnose if its the belts or pulleys but i'm hoping if i describe the symptoms someone could help me narrow it down.

If i accelerate gradually its almost as if i can control the noise, the minute i hear a chirp if i release a tiny bit it stops, then slowly build the speed up, but if i press the accelerator hard it is then a constant sound.

Also when i release the accelerator pedal quickly the noise appears for a second or two almost at the same time as when the car slows down not immediately on release of the pedal., i hoping its this bit that would help narrow it down.

Apologises if the description is vague, thanks

seems i don't know one end of a car from the other
turns out the noise is coming from the exhaust, loose baffle maybe.
