Hi guys I have a leaking tank as well from all this heat these days. I looked at the well informed tread about the tanks but I don't know in which month of 1991 my car was made. I have noticed that there are different part numbers for the tanks made in 1991. I have looked every where on the car to find the fab date but only the year imported.
16470 TANK ASSY, RADIATOR RESERVE
16470‑50040 (05/1991 - 10/1991) $174.08
16470‑50041 (11/1991 - 09/1992) $173.73

Buy a New Radiator instead you'll pay $170 for a tank and your radiator is still 20 Years old.....

Part number difference on that is quite Small, so it might be due to very small differences, maybe different material, manufacturer etc.

Both should bolt upto your Chassis so it shouldn't be a problem, maybe they have a different sensor?

I was told by my local Toyota dealer that the tank is now obsolete. I got one from a wrecker, different year than mine and fitted straight in. I will one day just get a different radiator without tank. Sensor can be unplugged with NO dash errors... These tanks crack along the side mount (dont put weight on cap) and could be repaired quite easily if it hasnt become brittle yet...

But the late model tank. Fits right in but has no sensor so won't have this problem.
