Hi Guys,

Heres a short clip I made of my new E36 1UZs sound at idle. It's very different under load (deeper?) but this still gives you an idea..

This is with the H pipe valve open, balancing the banks, and the rear exhaust valves closed and then open as a comparison.

Sounding good in both positions Mike. Sounds quite a bit deeper with the valves open. Did you get your transmission woes sorted out?

It's actually louder than that clip lets on, it was recorded from 4 or 5 meters away at 40% mic level.

Yeah yeah it's much deeper with the valves open - the Boysen exhaust company that make the mufflers sure know what they are doing!

Finally made some progress today with the gearbox, tried a new shift/solenoid selection today and it seems to be working better, still a little too much bite going into second but so far so good, it's at least drivable in all 5 gears for the first time!

I'm just working on fixing the stalling issue I have now that the box and engine are independent of each other, I will use the rpm or throttle position signal to regulate the ICV through the gearbox ecu (it has many uses like this) as the engine gets confused when I slow down too quick leaving the ICV lagging behind and not coming on quick enough to catch the engine from stalling.

Sounds awesome, but I'd expect nothing less from you Mike knowing how fastidious you are with your exhaust setup!

I've got it mostly working, take a look at this 'simulation'



Idle control valve is on it's last legs it seems, or the ECU controlling that part. Sigh.
