hey guys i got a set of turbo headers for my v8 gt and a big mofo of a turbo to go with it, now for starters i know a standard auto box wont handle 400kw (more or less thats what the last motor ran at 18psi)and yes i know it will be expensive plus i wont be running 18 psi, but for now i just want the turbo on it so i can finish the rest later, so my first question is does anybody know where to connect the oil lines for the turbo and do i need to tap a new feed or anything? and any other advice would be appreciated,
at the moment the cars being repaired (bloody wombat) but once its out and get the turbo bolted on theres 1000cc rx7 injectors, fuel reg and pump and a computer thats will need to be retuned to run right, if you guys need pics i can get some to help,

would that be the easiest way to get it all done? i thought the turbo bits would be the trickiest part wouldnt it be better getting that over and done with first?

If he does that Allan, that would mean getting the car tuned to suit the changes and getting it tuned again to suit the turbo when fitted, waste of money, fit turbo first, set boost pressure to no more the 6 to 8 lbs, car will run fine, I ran mine on 8 lbs with the supercharger with no mods except the exhaust when I first put it on.

just road tune it without the turbo fitted, this means when it does go to the dyno all the bugs are sorted out, money and engines saved!
depending on the ecu he get's there is probably a tune that will run it fine from the start!
getting my car's tuned ends up only being about an hour's time on the rollers, I have most of it sorted it's just going over the fuel map and then finding peak torque with the ignition.

well what i was going to do was just bolt the turbo and the manifolds on as thats all i have at the moment until i get the injectors, loom( do i even need to replace it? ), computer, fuel reg and pump. then once all of that was in and double check like you were saying Paul id only run no more then 5 psi max to be extra safe, the computer was set for drags and 18 psi so im unsure of how much tuning it will need and then after i find its all good id only run 10 psi max, would that be okay guys or am i missing something? really appreciate the advice guys but im getting mixed messages in a way

Tai thanks for those pics mate, i see the oil filter feed seems fairly easy but the 2nd and 3rd pic whats that fed into and do i need to make a hole or anything or any modification to an existing hole? to me im guessing its the sump and the feeds going there is that correct?

what sort of computer? piggy back, stand alone, there is nothing you can do with the stock one except wire in a piggy back, good for fuel and timing. I run a full stand alone now does every thing including the trans, plug and play so if I ever feel the need to return to stock its easy. that will never happen by the way.

as for ECU first vs Turbo first, if you are not going to play with the tune yourself go and speak to who ever you intend to use to tune the car and see what they say.
I would also look at getting the manifolding you have there and the turbine housing ceramic coated inside and out so you can throw the wrap in the bin, the biggest problems you face with a turbo v8 is heat in the engine bay cooking everything.
also send off the 1000cc rx7 injectors you have for a clean and flow test.

Paul im pretty sure its a stand alone but i cant remember will have to talk to the bloke im buying it off,
how much is the ceramic coating going to cost allan? if its heaps expensive would it be cheaper and easier to buy a turbo blanket and new wrap and would it be effective?

cost i'm not sure what NSW prices are like but i would guess around $300, ceramic coating will not cause the pipes to corrode and disintegrate over time unlike wrap that will fall to bits over time.

will look into that for sure Allan cheers for that,
Paul its a stand alone computer tuned for 14 psi and punched out 400kw kind of got my figures wrong at the start lol my bad, 15 days and counting until i get the beast back
