Hi guys, new to forum - nice to meet you all :-)

Have issues with my uzz31...
Just passed RWC last month - now has problems...
I've researched for a month or longer so far, now need advice.
Here' a list of issus:

Steering pump/rack was replaced 2 days before car passed RWC last month. I saw fluid was full.
The other day, fluid in rez was empty. No leaks.
Filled up fluid, pump squeals a lil upon starting up - but quietens down once driving, seemingly.
(bled it a little also - but maybe not enough).

1. Whine through speakers (don't think it is alternator) - Will test this week.

2. Door chimes only work when they feel like it.
80% of the time, they won't work.

3. Upon starting car every 2nd time, the rev starts at 1100rpm, then goes to 2200rpm, then back to 1100rpm - it loops over n over by itself.

I think this is the IACV. I disconnected hose and car stalled however - So is it still this? or an ECU issue instead?

4. The air con button was blinking when I bought car. Now it does not blink and seems to work.

5. My fuel gauge is all over the place. After starting car it tells me I have more fuel than I actually do have. Other times it tells me that I have less fuel. It seems to always sit on 39L though - gauge half full. Was fine when purchased car - now is wonky.

6. Car has a lack of power since purchasing.
I run it on 98ron fuel.
It will NOT do a burnout from standstill if foot is planted in first gear for example.
It SEEMS to get power once over 40kmh or 3000rpm however.
It was not like this when purchased - It now feels heavy.
It used to take 6.5 secs to 100kmh, now it take 8 or so.

Does a bad IACV cause lack of power?
Does a bad ECU cause issues with fuel gauge and lack of power?

- Car has bypassed fuel ECU with bridge in diag bay also.
(found this out last week.....)

So what I figure is, I will do this:
1. clean IACV (idle air control valve) this week.
(this should stop rev issue -but maybe its the ECU?)

2. Test alternator - I THINK it's working fine, but will repost when tested.

3. Keep an eye on steering fluid - No idea where it has gone. (think vacuum switch has sucked it into engine? - do get white smoke on startup when cold - but am unsure if that's steering fluid or simply condensation..

4.Need a fuel pump ECU - coz the thing is bridged - so that' not good.

5. MAF when unplugged lowers engine revs by about 50rpm, to the untrained ear, you'd think there is no change. Is this normal?

Do you guys have any ideas or advice or similar to share? Is all this caused by a bad ECU? - or do I have 4 separate issues going on? :S

(all parts mentioned, I'm in the market for also)

Thanks a lot.

Looping rpm could be IACV or ECU i had same problem 2 months ago both were bad on my car. Door chime check for broken wire in harness for drivers door, when you open door that harness next to door hinge. Engine should lower revs when MAF is unplugged it causes engine to run a lil rich.

Thanks for the reply :-)

When maf is unplugged, the engine only drops about 50 rpm or so - in most other cars it'l just about stall, right?

I'm unsure if the maf is working for this very reason...
Unplugging it DOES lower rpm, but only by 50 or so... Car runs fine either way.

Fuel gauge can be a common problem,
http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/51/265.html?1098762938 That should sort out that issue.

Air con blinking could be due to low or no gas perhaps, does it still blow cold air? Follow this link to run diagnostics http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/1113/33028.html?1134627587 or http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/1113/1422.html?1104489237

I dont think this is a problem, more of a benefit

i had the revving problem and solved it by getting the main ECU repaired. I first eliminated IACV etc. as possible culprit.

I'm doing the IACV today or tomorrow - then if it's not fixed, a new ECU is on the books :-)

-On the soarercentral/iac webpage it states that IACV causes this rev issue, or the fuel pump ECU. It mentions nothing about actual engine ECU...
(I still think it could be engine ecu though)..

- Fuel pump has already been bypassed.
- The other issue is, I can't get a proper diagnostic from a mechanic as the rev thing (and auto accelerate thing) never happens when I arrive at a shop! - they think i'm nuts. lol

fuel gauge

Thanks for the links!
Already read them previously, but can't hurt to re-read :-)

- I'm wondering if a bad alternator, or bad ecu can also give a bad fuel reading due to 'misvoltage' or whatever ...
No idea.
