Seems that a few people on these forums (and outside) are charging $300-$500 or more to have an ECU recapped for these cars. This suggests these people are taking advantage of people in need as such. Even their own Soarer brothers.
The total cost of the capacitors is around one or two dollars in total - shipped from Japan, from memory. This $300-$500 price is a huge rip-off as such.
So, just a heads-up for you guys: If you need an ECU fixed (recapped) and can't find anyone to do it in your price range - give this guy a call. He is just as good as the next person who knows what they are doing.
This guy will do it for $75, and gives a 1 month warranty on his work.
He supplies the capacitors also.
A friend had his done a few months ago on his UZZ31 - his car came back to life. No issues so far.
He's the cheapest guy in Victoria that I've found who 'knows what he is doing' with these ECU's.
I'll be taking my ECU in for a recap in the next month also.
Good luck with yours!
Disclaimer: As I have not personally had an ECU recap done by this guy yet or seen inside of my friends recapped ECU, i really cannot judge his work aside from my friends cars 'new' performance as such. Also, this thread is just a heads up/advice kind of thing - so I am not responsible for any issues which may or may not arise between the two of you as such.
I can vouch for Daniel, he supplied and recapped my V8 ECU. Been more than 8 months now, no issues. And I'm from Sydney, I have visited Daniel a couple of times, top bloke too with some very good Soarer parts.

I "might" have some left over capacitors from when I did my ecu. If I can find them. You can have them if you want them Ross. They're useless to me now. So if it helps other people, I'm happy to donate.

Hey Scott, yeah I've done a handful of V8 ECU's so far with success. They're only slightly harder than the TT ones due to positioning of the capacitors.
