Hi guys, when you next fill the car up, could you please check your fuel cap for me.
After your fuel cap has been put on and clicked one or two times, does your cap wiggle still - or is it secure and firm, and thus unable to wiggle?
After I put my cap on, i click it up to three times. The cap then has 1-5mm of play. I can 'jam' the cap in properly and make the cap not wiggle at all by applying pressure upon turning it. I think my restrictor thread is slightly warped, and cap may not be sealing properly.
I ask as I just did the fuel restrictor fix - but noticed some liquid under my filler where it meets the rubber last night.
It did not smell like fuel this time, and it was cold outside - hopefully it was water/condensation this time...
Otherwise, fuel is coming out the cap as suspected all along.
I tried 3 different caps, all of them wiggle. If i apply pressure (lots of pressure) whilst turning them, they will seal properly and never wiggle when applied.
I have no idea how the Soarer cap should seal. Should it wiggle, or should it be like a jar lid?
So, if you could please check your fuel cap and see if it wiggles side to side after putting it on, that would be most helpful
Hi Rob, the fuel cap when you screw it on it goes on tight. However so as not to over tighten, it has like a ratchet, where it starts to click instead of tightening any further.
When carefully checking my one with all other cars for that matter, there is a slight wiggle, however this is within the ratchet of the fuel cap and not a loose cap wiggle, if you get my meaning.
In short I think you will always experience some play, but I don't believe it means that the cap is loose.

Hi Rob, if you do get fuel leaking from the fuel cap it could be the fuel restrictor. I had fuel leaking out from the cap when I first bought my Soarer, and it's a pretty common issue/easy fix!
