The happened once to my mum's car after pressure washing the engine bay and a bit of water got to the spark plug area. It was doing it for around a week.

When did it last have a major service?? If so do you have a full report of what was replaced?

Go over the most likely causes; Spark plugs, leads, Coil packs, rotor caps and buttons. I have seen some pretty rough looking contacts on the rotor caps due to never being replaced.

I had that happen with my first V8 soarer ended up replacing AFM and fixed the problem.

First I'd try an airflow meter cleaner from supercheap:

Don't use MAF cleaner if you have Karmen Vortex MAF or you will destroy it apparently.
Uzz31 has Karmen Vortex I believe.
