Cranks but won't start. Pretty surprised as my car has never really just left me stranded before. When I first cranked it she ran for a few seconds before cutting out. Felt like fuel in the lines. Tried jumping fb fuel pump trick with a hair clip and didn't work. Does this sound like ecu or possible dead fuel pump?

Relays have been checked to be ok. Mechanic plugged computer in and it refused to give error codes. It runs if you spray some kind of fuel into the intake. Once it runs dry it stops. Anything else it could be? It is on gas but needs to start on petrol for first 5 mins.

You can check for codes yourself by bridging pins in the diag connector like FB and B+. Not even sure you can check them with a computer, so he might not have checked them properly.

Mechanic says the pump will not run. I know yesterday he took the fuel line off and even though fuel flowed out and was pretty slow even with pins jumped. He said the old pump won't work when connected to a battery on the bench but the new pump he tested working before putting in.

at the rear of the lhs bank, is a fuel"device" (near the heater tap)it has a "philips head"type screw in the centre. check that it moves when the fuel pump is on as it will show if there is fuel pressure
