I've changed my oil and filter twice since I've had the car and both times the oil filter has had a tiny leak around the block. Should there be any sort of O-ring on the engine side that helps seal the filter? Thanks.

No Clayton, the only seal is the one on the filter itself.
Possibly give the filter an extra "Tweak" when you tighten it?

Is it a periodic drip or is it the oil you put on the gasket before putting the filter on being squeazed out?

Smear some oil on the seal before fitting. That allows the filter do be done up a little tighter yet still be easy to undo.

Maybe check that the fitting on the block is nice and clean too. What brand of filter? Possibly some cheaper ones may have junky O rings. One of mine leaked a bit too, I don't recall what brand it was though, but I haven't had any problems with the genuine ones from Jeff.

I've done all the usual stuff which you guys have suggested. I've got a Ryco filter on their now which continuously leaks but I had a Toyota one on before hand which leaked as well. Maybe I've had 2 dodgy filters?

Next time you take the filter look the the sealing face on the block. It may have a nick on the surface, inner to outer, and the o-ring isn't able to fill the void and seal.

I've used ryco, cooper, repco, valvoline and purolator filters and never had an issue with any of them.

If the surface is damaged, you may be able to get a filter relocator kit and use gasket sealant when installing the hose body to try and fix the leak.

Also check that the old O-ring from the old filter is still not on the block surface.
Has been done before.

My old motor used to do this with genuine Toyota filters no matter how hard it was tightened.

Check for contaimination when u install the oil filter. Make sure the gasket is fully clean with a drop of clean oil. Sometimes, dirt or other small parts will cause the leak.
