Got the usual starting mods for the 1UZ such as:
Headers
2.5 duel system
BFI
Shiftkit
LS400 brake upgrade

Was intrestered to know peoples different directions of mods from this point, had in mind
Torque converter
camshafts and CPU (unsure of which, maybe mines)
Personally soarer feels like it needs handling increase such as swaybars but think would have more fun with the other mods performed.

Supercharger, sounds like the way to go, can the auto trans handle the increase power from the supercharger, looking for the cheap way to gain power?

You could also put braided brake lines and a sway bar on.

I would say the most needed is a chip or a replacement ECU though. You can really feel that modification.

Crikey Kurt, you say you are looking at cheap ways to gain power and at the same time talking of supercharging. Have you checked your costings?
As David said, go for a chip first.

For handling you can't go past a pair of whiteline swaybars and they won't break the bank.

Yes, the UZZ31 gets the most benefit from swaybars.

I'm also pretty sure the TT's and V8's use the same unichip, very good upgrade as well for so cheap, Benny has one in his and I think is pulling 180rwkws which is awesome for a V8

Speaking of Camshafts. Someone here found a site that was selling them for the 1UZ-FE around $2200 with all sorts of Stages. Anyone remember?

my vote
1)Throw away the BFI & get an Ingentech cold air induction kit
2)Torsen LSD (4.083:1 ratio)
3)Unichip
4)Try the "Paperclip in the diag pins" trick (there's a recent thread) see if you like the handling then decide what to do.
4)Whiteline Sways

I'm looking at cams now - generally from $1400 - $1800 but then you'd also need shims and if you're getting a higher lift would also need valve springs. Also some sort of piggyback or standalone management to run it all.

Just out of curiousity, if you wanted to go a full stand alone ECU in a V8, would you need to manualise the auto like the TT's or can you just plug it in and off you go??

You'd have to piggyback the standalone into the wiring harness and retain the stock ECU to look after the auto, dash, aircon etc...
