Hey guys, just started to notice a strange problem with my V8. Sometimes when it rains, I tend to take the car to go to TAFE early in the morning. At warm up, I notice smoke but I figured it was normal. With all the start and go traffic that you usually experience during the peak hour periods of traffic, I look at my side mirrors and notice there's still smoke coming out of my exhaust. What's the go with this guys? I don't see any exhaust when I accelerate, but I do notice it when I'm idling in traffic. I've read that they COULD be valve stem seals, but need some confirmation first.

Seems normal as it has got much colder lately and this increased how much exhaust smoke i see coming out of mine, if you start to see alot coming out while accelerating normally, then you may have a problem..

Probably just vapour mate.. Check out the lexus tv ad on the site... Cold air and hot exhaust = cool whispy smoke effect..
Next time you notice it, if you can, jump out and smell it.. If it smells oily you know it's bad. If it smells like sweet sweet exhaust fumes relax and enjoy the coolness of it

yeah by v8 is smoking or steaming heaps at the moment but its very very distinctive that its only steam, you will notice it in the winter and with the rain.
You should be able to pick it up by the smell straight away

My JZZ31 does the same thing on the morning drive to work, even once it is warmed up. On the way home when the air is a little warmer, its fine. Yeah it does look cool
