Just wondering if anyone is running LPG either Dual Fuel or Full Conversion,

If your running Dual Fuel where did you mount the LPG tank?

How much was the conversion?
How does Engine run on LPG?
And what kind of Fuel Econemy are you getting?

very interesting!
it seems it is costing those brits about a third of what they were running on petrol!

i would be interested in seeing some dyno runs, on gas then petrol.

i cant imagin eperformance being as good as petrol.
every gas car i have been in/ driven felt like crud! maybe these were just bad conversions / early systems.

I think their LPG is cheaper than here as well. In DK it's about half the price of petrol.

Im doing a little research on the lpg and read figures of up to 30% increase in consumption with a performance decrease of up to 20%, also lower exhaust emmissions..the way things are heading its worth investigating further

petrol will come DOWN in price soon!

US economy is going to go to Sh!t, combined with a few more RBA
Interest rate increases, the dollar will get better, and petrol cheaper.

when is soon mate? ;)

why is it always quoted as a power loss going to LPG? Isnt LPG a higher octane? is it just innefficiency from the burn? if you jammed more lpg in could you get it to go faster? i might investigate with my new project.

I came across this while searching:

http://www.gas-injection.com/lpg-gas-injection-technologies.html

I don't believe it is available yet, still trying to get in touch with them.

Didn't see this thread going before I re-opened the other one...I don't open the V8 mechanical threads too often.

i brought up the idea of v8 LPG conversions a while back when petrol was cheaper. everyone played it down but i figured it would come up again when petrol was getting more expensive. im not game enough to do it until i see some in aus do it on a standard v8 (excludi0ng the v8 supercharged ethanol/LPG run soarer in perth). i have heard that 4cyl cars do not live long on gas. i know someone who ran a hilux on gas and gas alot of problems. i have a dual fuel corolla. its done 270k and had a recond engine at 210k (should have done 250k) apart from that it runs better and has more up and go on gas than it does petrol. it must be tuned to gas because on petrol its not very economical. but at the same time $30(LPG) gets you 600km. where as $120(petrol) in the soarer gets under 600km. ps the car has been on LPG since new (1992) and i cant smell anything when its on gas.

Dual fuel with typical gas systems you will always lose power on gas as the engine cant be properly optimised to run on it while it also needs to run on petrol

Also, we are already seeing that as the price of petrol goes up so too (INEXPLICABLY!) does gas - you get ripped off either way

Furthermore - where on earth are you going to put a gas tank in a Soarer?

I'm a gas fitter, and we are fitting the injected gas at the moment, and are actually getting more power and torque out of it than petrol. Gas used to lose power because of the mixer restricting the air flow, but with injected there's no mixer hence no restriction. I am currently saving to put my 91 Soarer V8 on gas.
I will be putting the gas tank in the spare wheel well. Any more questions, feel free to pm me.

Guys if its done properly, you can get the same amount of power or more. It has to be tuned on a dyno with the appropriate management installed.

Doing it properly is expensive so the savings aren't great in the short term.

RON rating has nothing to do with power directly. Its a measure of resistance to pre-ignition. You only make more power if you exploit the advantage.

Put simply, to make the same power with gas you need more of it and the management needs to be tuned more aggressively in terms of ignition timing to reach its full potential.

Ideally, a dedicated LPG engine would have much higher compression and a fast burn cylinder chamber design. We cant change these things easily so its never 'ideal' conditions for LPG.

SO LPG injection is available now?

I didnt think anyone had it sorted out yet...

So how much do the kits cost, and what components are included?

Gas injection has been in testing for over 2 years now and selling to the public for allmost 1.
I priced it with a donut tank, and it retails for $4200 installed and tuned.
And dont think you can buy the kit and fit it your self, as it has to be installed by a licensed fitter.
Also be aware that there are some really shonky fitters out there. As well as some sub standard equipment.
The only gas equipment we us is Sprint Gas.
We are the leaders in the injection gas field.
We use AEB electronics, Sprint Gas or APA tanks, depending on avalibility.
The reducer & injectors are by O.M.V.L

to michael long it would be slitly cheaper than with the donut tank as we could remove the petrol tank and put it there proble about $3800 but you cant put gas in a jery can so if you run out stuk!!!!!
