Hi guys, great forum you have going, been delving deep into the posts, and i think i am on the right track with my problem, bought a 92 gtl, after driving it for 30mins it almost instantly overheats, changed the thermostat, had the cap pressure tested, put in red coolant, bled it for almost an hour, thought all would be well, and guess what?? it did it again, after 30mins but didnt heat up as quickly, probably took about 10 minutes more to go from1 bar above normal to all the way, popped the bonnet and the steam and coolant is still coming out from only the overflow pipe, no leaks anywhere else, i think it may be the radiator is blocked up, im in perth, so any handy hints would be greatly appreciated guys.

Did you bleed it from the bolt above the thermostat?

It does sound like the radiator is stuffed though, even with low coolant, that huge radiator should keep it pretty cool with no real problems.

Get the thermostat back and test it yourself.

Hot water, cooking thermometer, get the water up to temperature first, drop thermostat in and see if it opens.
