hehe.. As you can see, this is the same software used on ALSC, but I decided to explore it's potential.

eg that engine bay is just to prove that you CAN link to external pictures, in fact that one is also thumbnailed - you get a full size version by clicking on it.

I think you've done very well.
I think it's the same with most things. IF you're interested in something, be it a certain type of car, a software program, or just the inner workings of a PC, you'll go the extra mile to absorb as much as possible.

As in my case, when I worked for Brake & Transmission Ltd, we were at that stage manufacturers (Under license) for Bendix brake pads & linings. Then in 1987 when the first Jap imports hit our shores we, along with everyone else was caught on the hop, with a growing market that no one had the ability to service due to lack of JDM Brake & clutch component catalogues.

By a strange and happy coincidence a Japanese brake pad & shoe manufacturer that we dealt with on other matters, sent us (By mistake) a JDM catalogue for ALL vehicles.

The product manager concerned with this area of our business took one look at it (It was a hefty volume!).and threw it in a corner.
I retrieved it, and started looking through it, and finding that i recognised a LOT of the vehicle model numbers, but NOT their names, as you would expect, being in Japanese and all.

By another strange and happy coincidence a young lady we had employed for various office duties a year or so earlier was wandering past my desk, glanced at the hefty tome on my desk.......AND started reading the car names in fluent Japanese.
After I had recovered my composure, I ask how come she could read & speak Japanese so well.
She had studied Japanese in DEPTH at high school & university for a total of 5 years!.

I asked how hard would it be for me to get a basic grasp of certain words & phrases in order for me to decipher the model names.
She said not very at all, as long as you are REALLY interested, and have a good memory. I said yes to both, and thus I learned to read & pronounce Katakana, which thankfully, as I'm sure you know, is the main language they use for "Western" related topics......like cars.

The end result was that after 3 months or so we were able to put out a brake componentry catalogue exclusively for Japanese imports, and stole a MAJOR march on our opposition, and became THE place to source JDM parts from.

I went on to do the same thing with clutch's, suspension parts, filters, NGK spark plugs.

The culmination of which was the production of a 9 volume set of catalogues, which were released ONLY to our NZ branch's and agents under penalty of death Haha, if they let them out of their sight.

This position in the market was maintained for approx 5 years, after which the Japanese themselves translated their own catalogues into English, and made them available to all.

BUT this whole preamble was to demonstrate that like you with the Discus software, I was fascinated with the whole JDM import thing, was hungry for knowledge, and had a rampant passion/enthusiasm to learn as much as I could.

It was way more interesting than stamp collecting
