By the way, after posting a thread on this site about a month ago and after tearing my hair out whilst trying to figure out why my T.T wouldn't start (and after buying a second hand fuel pump from a Soarer Central member without any improvement) my neighbour finally came through. It turned out my fuel pump wasn't faulty- it was the ballast resister attached to the pump that was stuffed.

I'd looked at it whilst removing the fuel pump but didn't give it much thought (being more concerned with poking my head into a half full petrol tank).

So if you have the same trouble, give the resister a thought. Apparently it's there to prevent a spark if there's some kind of bad electrical connection on the fuel pump.

However, the day after my car was back on the road a welsh plug (or core plug) blew out in a very difficult to get at place (below the water pump where you can't see it)so now once again, the car is off the road.

A local mechanic took a look and said that it could take up to 15 hours of work to get the plug out and there's no way I can afford that. It's back with my knowledgable (but extremely busy) neighbour.
