I'm running alternately in IE6 AND Firefox.

No problems with either.

Running SP2 with broadband.

I've got no problems with either IE6 or FF V 1.0.4. I'm running XP Home SP2. Cable internet.

I have no problems with Firefox or Safari. Have you looked at the "Underline links" option in Preferences, or whatever it is called in your OS?

Tried Netscape at work and got the underlining thing occasionally, too. The forum worked fine though.

Weird, so it isn't consistant for all Firefox users then?

A few clarifications:
I am running the browsers on OS X 10.4.2
Firefox underlines text as if it were a link only when I mouse over the text, as it does for links. Firefox uses the Mozilla engine so you should see similar behaviour in some other non-IE browsers. It may be that some see it as a problem and others do not. That is, behaviour is the same but reports are different.

No such behaviour in Safari, which I think uses the Gecko engine.

I have discovered a Firefox bug where the Java applet which supplies the Soarer visual at top left can leave bits of itself scattered up and down the page on the left side if you scroll by clicking the arrows. Safaris does not have that problem.

Normally I find Firefox a very good browser. Despite these glitches, it still beats IE's lack of tabbed browsing, but now that Safari goes faster I am using the latter anyway.

That is useful feedback (I think). I use Crazy Browser with IE to get tabbed browsing, works a treat, also I have it set to open new windows in background which is excellent for forum work.
