Hey

Im up for a new set of rotors and got a price for DBA4000 slotted for $176 each.

Is this a good price? Can anyone get them cheaper?

How much better would something like these rotors be over the standard items? And how much ARE standard items?

Do I need larger calipers for the DBA4000s, or are they a direct replacement? (size wise)

Thanks

Ryan

they are the same size they fit strait on. that is a good price!! i would pay that!

i have a set of these front and back and they are great! best way to get the most out of the stock brake setup!

Try RDA rotors , they also come in slotted , I have fitted them to a V6 Camry and my Hilux ute and are very pleased with them , the rotors on the Camry have done about 50,000 K's and are in excellant nick .
RDA rotors for a LS400 are $130.00 each plus freight so Soarer rotors should be about the same ?

I just got quoted on some slotted RDA rotors (they only sell them in pairs now) and they were $250 for the pair.

Now this is sure to create some interesting feedback, but from what I've been told by people that have used both RDA and DBA, RDA is the better of the two (on the track at any rate). Not to mention the fact that they are cheaper as well :-)

I had RDA slotted that were warped brand new out of the box, had to have them machined as no replacement was forthcoming, still has a slight vibration, the quality control must be poor as one rotor had the threaded hole to assist with removal and one didn't, will pay the extra and change to DBA as soon as I get a chance, the RDA's are absolute rubbish as far as I'm concerned

Reading their web sites, RDA claim no local manufacturing; they are wholesalers. DBA claim local design and manufacturing. FWIW.

The rotors just lift off once you unbolt the callipers.

That's a good read Peter, I'm going to be going down that road very shortly. No point having all this power with only stock TT brakes / pads to slow me down. :-)

So where are people buy the DBA rotors from for such a good price???

I am in the market for a brake and rotor upgrade, and it's easier to get DECNT brake pads and DCNT rotors and get the most out of the Soarer braking system.

Currently I have managed 3 times to lift a rear wheel off the ground under heavy braking, which subsequently has caused be to end up slightly sideways, so I have a feeling there is more power going to the front wheels than should be, but this I am sure will be sorted with a proper brake fluid flush, and some new fluid.

But when doing the flush, I also want to install new pads on all 4 corners, and new rotors on the front.

(Personal opinion here, but good tires, good suspension, and good brakes are the 3 main things that will keep someone alive when the time comes. Brakes to stop you when you need it, tires to keep the car straight and in the direction you would expect, and suspension to hold the car on the road. Dont skimp on the 3 main aspects of the car that will keep you alive)

Get a set of Ferodo DS2500 pads and you will be pleasantly surprised at how well the TT brakes can work.

Yeah but Morgs has roughly 100kw more than a standard Soarer at the Rear wheels, (soon to be even more power)

I think its a smart idea to upgrade the rotors + pads. Even if you go with Ferodo pads morgs with the new Rotors.

Ill eventually do my rotors and pads aswell.

If placing Pads with the new rotors, you definatly can not go wrong with toyota geninue brakes, I have found any aftermarket brake squeek and squeel like a old ladies hip replacement needing lube...

Just do a measurement. You need about 65mm from rotor to the inside of the rim.

Bah, I'm nowhere near that. I've got about 48mm ish. Looks like I'll just have to stick with going with TT brakes, I'm pretty sure that they will fit...

Any confirmation on the clearance needed?
