The cars' logic then scrolls through all the systems of which 'ABS' is one of the latter ones. If a fault is found then it will tell you with a 'bong', if no faults are found then it will just finish with the time display.
Once you set off and a fault arises on any of the systems then you'll get an alarm which will stay up until it clears or you switch off. It is then stored in the computer until cleared either by disconnecting the battery or doing a reset.
If the tester is thinking that the ABS sign should be lit and displayed on your screen for compliance then he's mistaken so just show him by using the scroll button or by looking at the screen as you go through the start sequence.
If the ABS sign doesn't show on any of these tests then it's a fault with the display and needs fixing
