I have had a squeak in my '93 UZZ31 that starts as the fluid increases in temperature, finally purchased the total shebang for $250, about 15 mins after knocking back another offered for $2,450.
Now I'm in the middle of a dissection to understand the wonderful mechanical workings that Toyota inserts into our Soarers. If I can happen across the troublesome seal I may resolve my squeak that I've lived with for 2.5 years.

Try the end of the rainbow. But seriously if you do find a used one it's probably not going to be much better than the one you've got, so get it re-furbished before fitting. Or if you can do without your car for a while have yours re-furbished, but remember that the rest of the system is just as old and you may still have problems so I'd suggest enquiring about costs of new parts then weighing up your options.

Thanks for the advice Dave, Where is the end of rainbow? Do they have a web site?. If i want to get a new one, u have any idea how much will it be, and where can i buy it? And how to re-furbish it?

Not sure of new price. Try your local Toyota dealer as a starting point then put that price back to the Forum and see if others think it good or bad. As for re-furbishment try a local brake specialist.

i checked the local dealer, for the new parts need about $2000 something AUD, they don't know the exact price. and the mechanic said re-furbish can't fix my problem, he said i need another master cyl. Anybody know how can i get parts directly from japan? is there any web site can help? Thanks Alot

I'd get another opinion as master cylinders can be re-furbished, but it sounds like your mechanic thinks that the master cylinder isn't the problem so ask him what is the problem. AU$2000+ sounds about right for the whole assembly. That's better than the price I was quoted in NZ ($7k).

Dave, how did you get your TRC/ABS pump re-furbished? what did you get done to it? did you have the dreadful squeeky noise? if so did you get a fix for that?
My TRC/ABS Master cylinder pump was giving me troubles with the dreadful squeeky noise when i braked and i would get a Brake System warning come up. My mechanic also said they cant be fixed and i got a 2nd hand one.

I only said that the master cylinder could be re-furbished by having it bored out and sleeved with stainless preferably. Mine is squeaking and the booster pump is running every couple of seconds, may not be related of course. The pump running may be caused by lack of N2 pressure in the pressure vessel and they can be purchased as a separate item for a couple of hundred bucks. What causes the squeak - no idea - maybe fluid passing a seal which may give rise to the pressure drop and the pump running. I also get a brake alarm on the dash, not always but usually within a few minutes of setting off.

Hey guys I just had my master cylinder re-kitted and a 2nd hand brake booster, as well as new pads put in and it cost me a total of $690. The pads are bendix ultra's on the front and just bendix on the rear.
So if your mechanic knows his gear he should be able to help you out
Thanks to Neil as well for pointing me in the right direction about brake booster failure.

Yeah Mark yours is different though...you dont have TRC correct? people with TRC have a different master cylinder brake booster than those without TRC.
