Hmm, maybe Merc OEM pads are the way to go?

Sadly, that's whats in there
The car had it's 50k service at a Mercedes Japan dealer before being sold.

I've noticed a LOT of Mercs & VW's with filthy front, and to a lesser extent, rear wheels running around.

Does seem a bit daggy considering the prestige market the damn things are aimed at.

I will be "Mirror Man", and look into it.

I tried a few different pads when I had my Merc Don and the OEM pads were the best, dirtiest but performed the best and were quite well priced.

I carried the Mothers wheel cleaner and a couple of soft clothes in the small bag in the boot and sprayed the wheels and wiped them down every few days. Kept them looking mint with very little effort, perhaps 10 minutes to spray and let it sit then wipe the dust off. No water needed.

Matt.

Thanks for that Matt.
I have noticed that it's quite easy to wipe the dust off as I waxed the alloys after I bought it.

hey, what model front calipers are you using, as i want to do this upgrade. surely they will be cheaper then supra calipers. as i just brought new rotors and pads for my car, but i might as well change the front calipers and get new pads and rotors to suit them. big brakes are a good thing..

After trolling the internet for countless hours for wheels, I've finally bit the bullet and forked out for some tasty work rims.....

One question.....have you guys just removed the disc backing covers. I'd prefer to put on the celsior one ones to suit. - Can anyone help with part numbers?

I'll be selling my beloved Work 19s. keep an eye out on the parts for sale section.

Rainer, I used Supra backing plates(modified so that they would slip over the stub axle).

I'm sure Baggs will be along shortly with part numbers(can't find them on my system ATM) approximately $50ea from Toyota

You'd need the UCF2* shields for the 4-pot calipers and discs (do they fit a Soarer hub?), or the ones for a JZA80 with 17-inch wheels (which definitely fit).

Nope. Not a straight fit. The fixing holes are different.

I just cut the backing plates off

Doesnt do any harm particularly with wider wheels which protect the rotor anyway

Digging up an old thread.
How does the Celsior brake upgrade compare to the normal V8 set up ?

Also, it is advisable to do the rears or will only the fronts suffice?

Adam,
I have just completed the Celsior brake upgrade on my V8, there is a considerable difference in the retard feel.
I wouldn't bother with the rear upgrade unless I come across some TT caliper brackets.
I also fitted braided S/S hoses.

as the celsiors come with 15" wheels and 4 pot calipers... will the standard soarer 16" wheels fit over these calipers???

No they will not. Its more about the width of the calipers. From memory only the UCF21s come with a min of a 16 inch wheel.
