Hi Guys, just wanted to get your opinion on these prices, I want to do the front brakes on my Soarer so I took planet soarers suggestion and had a look at Supra TT brakes:
Description, Part Number, Price + gst
JZA80 TT Front LHS caliper, 4775014270, $247.00
JZA80 TT Front RHS caliper, 4773014260, $247.00
JZA80 TT Front LHS Rotor, 4351214200, $84.50
JZA80 TT Front RHS Rotor, 4351614030, $84.50
JZA80 TT Front Cylinder Kit, 0447914140, $64.19
JZA80 TT Front Fitting Kit, 0494714010, $13.00
JZA80 TT Front Shim Kit, 0494514110, $58.50
JZA80 TT Front LHS Cover, 4778214160, $45.50
JZA80 TT Front RHS Cover, 4778114160, $45.50
TRD JZA80 TT Front Pads, 0446514390, $73.87
TOTAL $963.56 +GST
Since all price are NZ plus gst, works out at $1084.01 all up. New parts direct from Toyota. Are these prices good or average? It seems quite good to me but this is my first time buying this type of stuff so I'm unsure. Also, are these all the parts I need? I'm not to sure about the Cylinder kit, it seems in the article that its only used for second hand calipers?

I got my setup on trademe with new pads and 6 month old rotors for $650. I had to get a fitting kit and a shim kit. I ommited the backing plates.
I have spoken to the Toyota dealers in Wellington and they have a price already for a kit as they do a few of these. Might be worth checking with them, pretty sure they could do something cheaper. Not sure what freight would be though.
Doesn't cost to call a few places. You will love the upgrade.

Hmmmm I'd love the upgrade but its not urgent as of present.
By the way Joe, check your your mags to see if the big calipers will clear the spokes design inside of the wheel.
You will need at least 65mm from the spokes to the face of the brake disk for the front brake calipers to clear and at least 17" rims.
I got 16" LS400 rims which clear the slightly smaller LS400/Celsior 4/2 Pot 315mm brakes which are a slightly cheaper and lighter alternative to the Supra TT brakes. Not sure if those wheels clear the Supra brakes though, as far as I know they dont.

i take it, if i were to upgrade my brakes to tt brakes, i only need to buy one of each of those items as it come in pairs? or do i have to get anything else?

I've got 17" BBS and they make the current brakes look tiny and far away but I better measure just in case, I don't know that distance accurately cheers Mike. Wicked thanks Gareth, that makes it even cheeper!

Joe, I was quoted $810 inc GST about 2 months ago, new calipers, standard pads and rotors. Call Rory at Rutherford and Bond, Wellington. You could also consider LS400/ Celsior brakes, there is a set on trademe at the moment, or TT Soarer brakes (which I have a spare set of).

what do soarer jzz30 twin turbo rotors go for from toyota? as i can only find dba discs in kalgoorlie w.a. and they are $240 each disc which seems way too dear

Hmm that is expensive, I was offered supra dba ones for $180 a piece on trademe. I say about $80-100 each at a guess, best idea is to ring toyota and ask for a club price.

RDA solid rotors for a Z30 TT retail for about $95/ea, Toyota oem variants are aboub $135/ea last time I checked, but that was before the exchange rate went south, and Toyota have now upped their prices on everything as a result.

yeah i told the guy, there's a toyota dealership in new zealand that sell it for 250ish, he was like must be fake. so i told him i'll think about it due to the economic crisis thought it was reasonable that the prices have went up.
after hearing you can get it for $550 for both joe, might have to call up Rutherford and Bond dealership. Do you know if they deliver stuff overseas?

Can't see why not, it'll cost a lot though. I was originally quoted $900 per caliper, mentioned soarer central, bang down to $250+gst. Have you tried castle hill toyota?
