Hello.
I got the rotors off my soarer and took them to a workshop to get them remachined (and the workshop told me i have to buy new ones because the rotor has been remachined to many times .
Where can i buy new rotor? (i called motortraders.they wanted $220 each for a rotor)

Hey,
I've been trying to find the specs on the rear rotors for my car cos after wearing the pads down so much they chopped up my rotors and of course the rotors are too thin to be machined.
does anyone know the specs or models numbers of good rotors
cheers

According to pedders 14 safety checks, my front rotors are under minimum thickness,
I can get Protex rotors ( standard ones) for as cheap as 35 each while the DBA series 4000 slotted which I see a lot recommend, the cheapest are 180 to 200 each.
So, 2 protex for 70 while 2 DBA for almost five folds, is it worth paying all that extra money for the DBA ones, will the braking be that much better, advice please.

Thanks Peter
Normal Driving, with the odd once in a while, that a Holden keeps tailgating me in an annoying way and I speed off to show them not to mess with a soarer ,
so no track, no racing, just normal everyday driving in the city, I checked today with a couple of shops and they say that the DBA slotted provides up to a 50% more brake performance compared to the protex standard non slotted which is made in china vs the 4000 series made in Australia under better quality control.
How about the RDA slotted vs Protex standard, A shop said they can get them for 95 each.
It is a UZZ32 after all and these are the front Rotors where most of the braking takes place, so if the Protex are o.k., I might get them or the RDA (slotted )

I would really love to see them qualify that DBA provide 50% more brake performance. Bullshit meter is on High Alert!
Basically rotors are a lump of metal - all the same size and shape to fit the car. Different metal combinations may affect wear, or even failure if it was really bad stuff, but I don't see that causing 50% more or less performance.
Slotted may help keep the pad clean (cheese grater) and cool a little better, possibly even allow for more outgassing.
From Wikipedia. "Over time, vented brake discs may develop severe rust corrosion inside the ventilation slots, compromising the strength of the structure and needing replacement."
But - whatever you get, once they are run in, fit a decent set of pads, eg Lucas.
