Are there variants of Toyota brake pads for front and rear TT brakes? Or is there just one type/part number that fits the front and one type/part number that fits the rear?

Been told there are variants for both front and rear brakes on a TT and depends on which model... Can anyone confirm?

TT front RDB1395
TT rear RDB1396
V8 Front RDB1209
V8 rear RDB1234

Cost $65 in Lucas through me if youd like some

A very dusty pad but cant be matched for quality and performance for even double that price

Dave, DB1234 is for a Celsior only!

The Soarer V8 uses the same rear pad as the TT. The calliper is the same, just the mounting arm holds the calliper a bit further out.

UZZ32 also uses the same front pad as the TT.

Do a search using "DB1234" and see the complaints from people that have tried to fit them to V8 Soarers.

Peter,

If rear V8 calliper is the same as TT, so can i change the rear disc to TT without changing the V8 calliper?

Daniel, you need the TT calliper mounts. The calliper is the same, but it has to be mounted further out to allow for the bigger disks.

Apparently the extra leverage improves the rear brakes by around 16% so it's a worth while upgrade. The bigger rotor would also absorb a bit more heat, and have a bigger surface area to dissipate heat from, but adds to unsprung weight.

Hmmm I was told there are various part numbers for TT fronts and various part numbers for TT rears depending on the year of the TT... but that seemed fishy to me.

Nevertheless, thanks for the confirmation guys.

Dave pm sent.

Thanks Peter!

I thought i can just change the V8 disc to TT disc but look like i'll need the TT rear disc and calliper.

What Peter said was that you do not need to change the rear caliper.

Peter is right but in practice calipers & mounting brackets are sold as one item so yes you do need to buy TT "calipers" as such to get the right brackets

Pic explains- red part is the mount that is different between TT and V8, the rest is the caliper itself and is identical between the two models

However you might prefer to use your own "known good" calliper instead of an unknown one that might not have been sealed from the elements if it's been sitting around off the car for a while.

Need to be wary if upgrading rear brakes only. Its always a good idea to make sure the front brakes are a lot better than the rears - excessive rear brake bias in a panic stop situation is not nice.
