I noticed the accumulator on my 31 is vibrating all the time and a relay appears to be activating it or something. I can hear a relay cutting in somewhere at the back of the motor and the headlights momentarily dim, and the accumulator then jumps around on it's mounts and vibrates or something. Is this normal? I have never noticed this before. I have been getting a klingon brake alarm for sometime that I cannot get rid of. Diagnostics says it is a 55 which is supposed to be low fluid level, but I have disconnected the level sensor a couple of years ago. I reconnected it and the alarm still appears, so I disconnected it again and the alarm is still there. I now believe the 55 must mean something else and could be related to the accumulator. Can anyone enlighten me on further tests or if the accumulator is not reacting in a normal manner as I am concerned about having a brake problem even though the brakes are working fine.

I've got an interesting point from my experience with a recharged accumulator. I got one of the rebuilt units from soarerparts.com and had it installed. I didn't notice any difference to brake pedal feel at all although I recall others have found that upon installation the feel becomes firmer. Mine remained quite soft compared to another Soarer I have driven (another 94 UZZ31).
A couple of weeks after having it installed I managed to get in some spirited driving, upon which I noticed the brake pedal firmed up significantly, and has been ever since. So it would seem that the brake system needs a bit of a workout before it actually draws on the accumulator.
Does this seem reasonable, or is this experience with my car a bit of an oddity?
