Sooooo

I was backing out of the drive way last night and she went BONG!!!!

Turned it off or back on again... she does her check all good. Go to drive off. BONG!!

Checked all cables and fuses... looks good.

The hand brake light comes on, the TRC (disabled) light comes on and the dash alternates between ABS and Brake System (jap error code)

I looked at the brake fluid level.. seems ok.

Any advise would be good here.. cheers

Oh of note: I have filled the brake fluid, it was actually pretty low. Brakes are much stiffer now (Good for my driving style)

If i pump the brakes I can get it to BONG as well, if I don't pump it I only get the initial start up bong.

Fuse: Is there any chance there is a fuse can control all these functions (kick panel?)

If i unplug the fluid level sensor I get no additional or less error messages? Is it only TT's that get a low brake fluid level?

Are you asking, is my 31 fitted with TRC? Then yes.

If you are asking have i broken traction to see if the TRC is functional (since this issue) then no i haven't.

Just wondering if you might have gotten some air into the system when the fluid was low. Might be worth bleeding the TRC unit, but be careful, it's high pressure, Search for suggestions how best to do it.

Would that cause all four errors to pop up?

Yeah bleeding the brakes looks a bit out side of my skill set :-(

No single fuse can make these errors?

update: This morning i made a call to a local guy to bleed my brakes. Pulled out of my drive way and got a Double bong and all the other lights.
Pumped the brakes a few times and all the error went away.

We is back in the green!! woot.

I am convinced there must have ben an air bubble thats now worked its way out of the system.

I could only find DOT4 - is this ok to use even though the soarer says it needs DOT3 ?

Howdy yall.

From what I can see Dot4 is the same as dot3 except a higher boiling point

Am I missing something?

I have been running Dot 4 for quite a few years now with no problems. The only issue that I have read about, is that apparently refurbished TRC accumulators have a seal that doesn't like Dot 4.

Thats news to me where did you here that.

I have been running Castrol Super Response DOT 4 which is actually a DOT 5.1 fluid and claims to be one of the few DOT 5.1 fluids that is compatable with DOT 3 and DOT 4.

I have the TRC brake unit with one of Peter Taplins rebuilt accumulators.

No problems as of yet and mine is one of the first he did.

No worries.

Well at this point in both my cars which both have rebuilt accumlators are running CSR DOT 4 and CSR DOT 4 is DOT 3 and DOT 4 compatible. This has not caused any issues that I am aware of.

Not really, and no need for it, the brake system should be pretty much closed to reduce moisture absorption from the atmosphere.

Can you find the leak based on where it's dripping to the ground?

The top of the resivior has fluid coming out of it i think. The drip appears to be inline with the res/accumulator.

I really did over fill it earlier .. but maybe there is a leak somewhere in the system.

Ok now it's trippy. Went out and checked it. It's dripping from pretty much under the drivers seat.

It isn't coming from the exhaust but from a lip in the underspray sealant. I'll be dammed if i know why? Any chance brake lines run along that way?

Jol, I'm not saying this is the case but there's a drain tube under the TRC pump. This is more a tell-tale that shows the seal between the pump and motor drive shaft is u/s.

I believe she has stopped leaking now and I am just hoping it was some kinda overflow.
