Hi guys.
I had a rego check last week and the guy said that because I had an ABS warning light on it wouldn't pass rego (The warning light has been on since I bought it 2.5 years ago).
I have also had a squeak coming from the ABS section that has been getting progressively worse, however, I was convinced it was an electrical squeak coming from the steering column. I know realise I was wrong.
I took it to get the ABS checked out. And he said basically there are quite a few problems with it and it will need a new(or secondhand) ABS kit.
Castle Hill Toyota quoted me $2500 for a new ABS. But this is out of my price range and my car (which I need for work) is out of rego next week.
Can anyone offer any advice or know of someone who will have these parts on hand (and for cheap) ?
I'm sort of stressing cause I have a million and one things going wrong for me at the moment and I can't really afford this so any help is greatly appreciated!

Is that squeak coming when you press the pedal? Not sure if it's common on Soarers but on JZS147 Aristos that sound is evident when the Nitrogen Accumulator has a noisy valve, and when low on gas the pump would cycle more so the noisy valve will be heard more often.
First you have to check the codes to see what the trouble area is.
Sometimes dealers would just replace everything when they don't know what the exact problem is and jack up the price.

Send your accumulator off to Peter Taplin to get o/hauled because that squeak is the piston moving up and down due to no/very little nitrogen pressure. I'm not saying that that will fix everything so be warned but it will fix the squeak and stop the pump running every few seconds.

Is this on a Soarer or a Camry? If it's a Soarer open the bonnet and see if the "sqeak" or noise is coming from the ABS/TRAC pump located directly below the brake mastercylinder. If so the first thing is to get another accumulator from Peter Tamplin. If that doesn't fix it then I suggest you start with the search function because a lot of info on this has been posted in the last 12 months
