I am proposing to combine Celsior 4-pot fronts with standard 1-pot rears on a UZZ32.

Will this setup encounter a problem with the standard brake bias settings?

What problems have others encountered or heard about e.g. back brakes biting early?

Is it worth installing a Supra 2-pot rear setup now to avoid potential problems

OR

is it better to wait and see how things pan out?

Vehicle to be used for road only - no track or race work - only "mind cruising"

Will be running forced induction - hence need for upgraded anchors.

No problems at all!

As you have increased to 4POTS, and kept the same master cylinder, your brake response wont be felt until about approximately 5cm of dead travel.

You get used to it very quickly.

I do some light track work and they hold up fine, no problems with brake bias

Thanks for that insight - definitely something I need to think about.

5cm of dead travel is NOT ACCEPTABLE! sounds like you need to go bleed your brakes again!

mine with the 4 pots you rest your foot on the pedal maybe 1cm and its pulling you up faster then the stock brakes ever did!

Unless you change to a supra master cylinder, I dont think much of it can be fixed. Me and many others have found no problem with this though. Perhaps some braided brake lines will increase this response. I have yet to install mine.

If you check Toyodiy then Supra and Soarer master cylinders are the same size.

When I change to four pot fronts I noticed very little difference in pedal travel, slightly more than before but not noticable.

Apparently the proportioning valve is different between Supra and Soarer.

Wrong, well sort of, the master cylinder size is the same for the same 2 pot/1 pot brakes the supra 4 pots/2 pots used a larger bore master cylinder 1 1/16" size. Stock soarer size is 1" as is the 2 pot supra master cylinder.

The TRC/ABS brake unit which the 32 is fitted with has a 1 1/8" bore.

Strongly suggest people read the following thread in full.

UPDATE: Braided brake lines have now been fitted .....

Interesting variety of responses .... I think I will stick with the original plan, get it on the road and see how it all runs

I was sent a PM with the following.

"I have supre 4pots sitting in my room and will soon be used in my jzz30. My car has the Trc/abs set up... How much lag will there be in the pedal and will it be dangerous in any way? cheers"

There is extra dead travel which effects pedal feel and response. I wouldn't call it dangerous but it is something to be aware of and it certainly effects unexpected brake applications when driving in traffic. Exact measurement of this isn't exactly easy but it will be noticeable.

If you want to fit big brakes I would recommend fitting both front and rear supra brakes at the same time to insure the bias is uneffected.
