Dammit, was replacing the front brake pads all was fine till I loosened the nipple to let some fluid out. When I tried to tighten it up again it felt weird. I was waiting for the 'stop' to let me know it was closed but it never happened. On closer inspection I noticed a crack in the caliper body around the nipple. The dam thing just crumbled away, I was using a tiny ring spanner and no force (or so I thought). Now poor old Ziggy is bleeding to death and it looks like I need a new near-side caliper. Anyone got one lying around in their shed? Looks like I'm gonna have to learn to ride a bicycle again.

Well Dan didn't have one and Castle Hill Toyota wanted $900 and a 4 week wait while they ordered from Japan. No problem though, fixed it with an angle grinder and a tap and die set

hmmm yep they are a bit cheaper. $US707. Found a second hand caliper assembly at southport auto recyclers for $75 so I'm going with that. thanks for the help though guys. Gotta say this site is far and away the best soarer site I have come across.

Thanks Rob but I have it sorted now. The Soarer is my only wheels so I can't have it off the road for long. $150 is an excellent price though. The brake problem is history I've moved on to bigger and better things. It's the alternator that has died now
