Hey Guys,
Just purchased a V8 Aristo as my family has grown in the last year and a capsule wont fit in the back of the soarer. My soarer will be up for sale shortly...
The Aristo has ABS and TRC, and looks just like the brake unit in the Soarer. Brakes worked fine but brake fluid was weeping down the brake pedal, requiring a top of the brake fluid every month or so. This issue is caused by a leaky seal in the ABS part of the brake unit (not the master cylinder seals). I heard of a fellow who has been successfully replacing the seals up in QLD.
Had my local mechanic pull it out, sent it up, and had the unit back and installed 2 days later.
The leak into the foot well has stopped...but brakes were a bit spongy. About a week later noticed that the foot pedal was sometimes slowly dropping to the floor and not returning. I could pull the pedal back up with my foot and things would be fine for another 15 minutes or so... also the dropping almost always occurs after parking and applying the foot parking brake. When the pedal drops it appears that the spring on the foot pedal does not have sufficient strength to return the pedal to its high point.
After reading many of the posts here, I noted that bleeding was a likely remedy, particularly after actuating the ABS on a dirt road.
Have bled now a couple times, following the planet soarer tutorial, and have got some air out of the lines. Have also actuated the abs on wet roads before each bleed. There appears to be no more air coming out of anywhere and the brake pedal is much firmer and feels just like the soarer. But the pedal still keeps dropping from time to time.
When the abs kicks in on wet roads, the pedal drops right to the floor (car stops fine). After this sometimes the pedal slowly comes up a little bit but never the full travel.
The only other thing worth mentioning is that the accumulator appears to be working fine...it runs for about three seconds every two or three pumps of the brakes, and was not an issue prior to getting the work done.
I'm stumped...any ideas? Does this sound like an issue with the master cylinder seals?

Ok....so here's what I think is the problem...it makes sense...I stretched out the opening of the rubber boot that covers the brake pedal shaft to have a sticky beak....and there is no $%@! circlip/washer retaining the shaft spring under tension! Yup the spring is sitting there essentially loose behind the rubber boot...
Easy fix...except the part where the BMC cylinder has to $%^$ come out! I should take it back to the mechanic who refitted the BMC but I'm scared of what else might go missing...

Ok feeling a little bit better...
Cut the end of the boot off to have a better look. Washer was there jammed at an odd angle. Circlip there also but had somehow worked its way behind the washer. Put everything back right. All fixed, except for the rubber boot end.
