hey am looking at a soarer for sale. but the owner has just informed me that the rear brakes aren't working, they have had it at the mechanic and there not sure whats wrong with it. its not leaking fluid, but just apparently not working.

Must be a pretty useless mechanic. The most common cause would be ceased calliper guides - but any mechanic who couldn't spot that should not be working on a car - so it might be something more complex. If the guide pins aren't ceased, then ease off the bleed valves and see if it is pumping fluid through. If it is then it must be the piston that is ceased. If not then it'll be complicated.
