Hey everybody! I've searched the brake section of the forum as best as I could before posting and I didn't find anything that I thought could help out with my problem. My first two problems are that the brake system warning jap error code comes up after driving for a while. Along with this, the handbrake light will also appear.

My other two problems are that a weird noise comes from the back left tyre area. This is a difficult sound to describe but here goes: the best that I can describe this noise is that its similar to when i would slowly release the brake of my old golf mk3. Kind of like a struggling/grinding noise. Though whats weird is that this noise occurs during lower speeds of travel, say 10 - 15km/h and once I speed up its gone. It does not occur while releasing the brakes and it can only be heard on the left side. Though if I keep driving it will appear while I'm at a stand still. I was thinking that this could even possibly be related to the air bag suspension?

My final problem is that when I apply the brakes (and this happens completely randomly) the computer makes some sort of noise. Impossible to explain. Almost like a warning sound but not quite. It doesn't happen every time I apply the brakes, only sometimes and not often.

Any and all help is appreciated and thank you to everybody in advance.

you need to put the car into the brake diagnostic mode. plenty of threads about it and its also in the "how to" section on the main page. then you can see what error codes are being thrown at you and work from there.

also the final problem does it sound like a squeek or a chirp coming down the steering wheel?

you'll find that your accumulator on the brake master cylinder is low/leaked. you'll find a few threads about what the accumulator actually does (it basically stores energy in the brake system by jamming the brake fluid against compressed nitrogen) what happens is over twenty or so years this nitrogen leaks and starts causing pressure issues in the system and sometimes throwing out errors. and for what ever reason makes that weird chirp sound down the steering wheel, i had the same problem, and the noise started off fairly quite and every so often, eventually got louder and more frequent error codes. never had any trouble braking though.

over the last couple of weeks i've been playing around with how to re-gas our cylinders and just waiting a few more days to make sure it all works and then i hopefully gonna offer this service out for hopefully less then $200.

you should still put your car into the diagnostic mode in case multiple codes are being thrown out.
