you will need to post your accumulator to me, but will cover the cost of posting it back to you. can express post at an extra cost
warranty wise i will cover cost's of shipping the item back for another overhaul if you can prove it was caused by workman ship. i will not take responsibility for damage caused during installation/dis assembly (though there's bugger all to damage) but you have to remember that this isn't a fancy business, just a guy doing this off his own back at work to try and help out the soarer community that's given me tons of information and things in the past.
it should only take me a maximum of 2 WORKING days to over haul the accumulator upon receiving it.
some symptoms your accumulator may need to be re gassed include an odd sounding "chirp" down the steering wheel brake error codes coming up when pressing the pedal going away upon depress spongy brake pedal feel (i noticed mine firmed up quite a bit upon doing it)
So send me a pm as email will be the easiest way at the moment to organise things if you wish to take me up on this.
thanks heaps
shane
i might in the next day or two do a write up on how to get your accumulator out, but basically the accumulator is located on the drivers side next to the fluid resivor
under neath the black and yellow rubber cover.
the easiest way to remove it is to:
leave the car off
pump the pedal about 40 times hard (this is crucial to relieve pressure)
now need to unscrew the accumulator.
select your weapon of choice, i've read a couple of ways of people doing this, either with a pipe wrench/stilsons, oil filter removers, strap wrenches. i made my own tool which works ok but not great
once you've got it moving (may take a bit of effort) unscrew the accumulator and place it in a vice or similar
with a flat head screw driver, undo the screw ontop SLOWLY!!! just until you start to hear the nitrogen coming out. just leave it until it's empty. please don't get impatient and undo it quickly you'll probably end up with a screw getting launched with the power of a 1000psi into you eye or something, just let it come out slowly)

Hey Boris I'd need to see the ceilsor one, even a photo or two and might take a little bit longer in case the o-rings and things are different but there's no real reason it can't be done I suppose
Warranty wise it's a 5/5 warranty once you get 5 minutes or 5 meters away the warrantys over, hmmm honestly I think if it hasn't failed in 6 months your going toget a decent amount of life out of it and with the valve installed you can always source a top up of nitrogen from somewhere closer

Hi Shane, I started the car this morning for the first time after fitting the rebuilt accumulator and the electric pump pumped up the brakes very quickly and did not pump again according to my hearing. Obviously I had very little nitrogen in the accumulator before. I took the car for a run, only a bit over a kilometer round the block, did some power stops and held the brake on in the stationary position and no pumping. Seems great. Will let you know if I have any troubles but doubt that. thanks for a good job. Cheers John

Hey mate, I've been trying to get my accumulator off but it's stuck. I bent two oil filter removal tools (one ring type one clamp type) trying to get it to turn, what's going on?

Aiden, its anti clock wise to undo them , they are tight, you need to make a tool for them , i will put a photo up of the tool later. Did not think you would have any problem after you were rebuild p/s pumps so quick etc,

I have a pair of duck bill stillsens that are just about the best thing since sliced bread. Here is a picture if you want to invest in a set, they work for the hardest joints, nuts or bolts or cylinders from 3 ml to nearly 100 mls with equal ease.
I carefully ground mine thinner than standard to get hold of the hydraulic ram on my 32's struts. They worked a piece of cake on my brake accumulator. Well worth the investment if you are serious about doing any mechanical work with the least amount of tools. You can use them in so many places. I have removed stuck brake line nuts that no one else could move; easily rotated really tight tie rod ends and other shafts that you can't otherwise hold; odd sized bolts and nuts or nuts that are too butchered to hold; allen key bolts that you can't move; you can use it to bend steel with while you hold it in a vise etc, etc.
I think I paid about $25 over 30 years ago. Does anyone know where someone can buy such a thing nowadays. I couldn't find them on the web? Cheers John

These are made by Dowidat (German company) but they seem to be no more. There are a number of manufacturers of what I have found are called Swedish pattern pipe wrenches but the ones I looked at on the net seemed to sell to resellers. you can search this out further. I found one place (Gedore who seemed to take over Dowidat) that wanted about $400 for one. Happy hunting. Looks like I have a rare find worth its weight in gold. Cheers John

Oh my god thank you. Ill be purchasing one of these today.
EDIT: Wait; i'm not sure your accumulator looks the same, physically dimensions are similar, but that "groove" is different, mine isn't two notches it's two flat bits. The car isn't where I am so i'll grab the tool (it looks like one you use to release the grinding wheels off a angle grinder?)

No worries Aiden
Just make sure the studs are the right distance apart /ie groove to middle of bolt. And do not forget..... pump brake till it feels dead before you try to undo

M***** F****** Accumulator!
Tried everything - all the tools above and everything kept slipping on the shiny surface of the cylinder. Got the strongest person I know - Still slipped.
Then, I decided to put the rubber cover back on it and try that and HEY PRESTO it's off! The rubber provided a grippable surface and with a pry bar and one of these
...and it's OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've only had the recon'd accumulator back in for a day, but I can vouch for Shane's service. Very friendly and helpful. Very quick turnaround and IMHO a very reasonable price.
Thanks Shane!
