The other day my 95 V8 Soarer began coming up with warning lights and alarm for the ABS, TRC which would not switch on or off and the handbrake light. I stopped the car and switched everything off which worked when the same thing happened once after hard braking through town before I replaced the accumulator but unfortunately it had no effect. I limped home down a back way with alarms going and after a few miles the boost went on the brakes. After a very slow next few miles I stopped at a set of lights and everything came right again, sadly a few miles more and the alarms came on again and just before home the boost went again. I could not hear the pump working at all like it does for the first few seconds when I start it having been sitting for over a week and like it did before we replaced the accumulator continuously so I presume the pump is working OK, the brake fluid is still clean and fully topped up so I do not think it is air in the system or a leak. I read through all the threads in this section and there was a lady who suffered what seemed like exactly the same problems a few years ago and having replaced just about every part in the system finally solved the problem by replacing the DVS switch-sensor. Could anyone confirm that this is the most likely problem and fix and is this switch still available. Peter

pump the brakes with the ignition on and confirm the accum pump comes on. From memory the dvs switch is at the back of the master cylinder and gives a 51 or 43 error message?? you can disconnect it (or cut a wire to the sensor as access is tight) with no ill effects. I do not think they are avail any more.

Tom No it does not seem like the pump is working, could this be a fuse or something. Could you also please tell me how to run the brake diagnostics I keep reading about in the threads. Peter
the motor may have burned out due to running all the time. can you measure at the motor plug and see if it is getting voltage. I think i have a pump off my son's car under the house some where if the pump it self is stuffed.

Tom Thanks for that advice, my son-in-law who is a mechanic and keen Japanese sports car man is due back from the mines on Tuesday so I will get him to have a look at it and will contact you if it is the motor. It did run a lot when I first got the car and found a replacement accumulator so it wouldn't surprise me if it has died. How much do you want for your one. Peter

it could be the pressure switch u/s ! it feeds the pump so if no volts at pump go back to switch feed . thinking its been closed for a long time (pump running) now its had to start work again and contacts may burnt ?? just a thought.

Thanks guys for the help so far, there was someone selling English copies of workshop manuals for the Soarer but when I emailed them they did not reply so I presume they do not sell them any more. Do you know of anyone else who has these documents and might sell me a copy. Peter

Hi Peter - you are talking about the Soarer bible - which is not exactly what it seems.
It is marketed as the one book all Soarer owners need - but offers nothing.
All it offers is a stock UZZ30 LEXUS SC400 manual. The uZZ31 and 32 manuals are still in japanese. So - no air suspension or emv details etc. It does have wiring diagrams though (for the uzz30).
This book is terrific if you have a non Japanese car, as all the bible is - is the stock Lexus manuals. The six cylinder non turbo - and the Sc400 Lexus. The steering wheel is on the wrong side in all diagrams also.
You can buy a Lexus SC400 manual for $20 from ebay or similar. Look up 'haynes lexus sc400 manual'.
$100 for the Soarer bible is nonsense, considering all the information we need is not even in English.
If you need a workshop manual, provide your Email address and you will be sorted out. No cost.
I have created my own personal book based on the Soarer bible - including English diagrams/parts which UZZ31/32 owners need - and the Soarer bible does not have. Basically, everything that should have been in English - is now in English. It is a 600mb file.
I have added ENGLISH EMV repair/diagnostic sections and air suspension sections. So - combined with the UZZ30 manual in the Soarer bible, it becomes a UZZ31/32 manual also - in English.
All information in the bible can be found on these forums - at a faster rate - considering the Soarer bible PDF does not even have a proper page guide index.
The book is in PDF form - so you need a PDF viewer (or firefox) to view the pages.
Recap: If your car was a Jap spec vehicle - the Soarer bible manual is still in Japanese - so the soarer bible is slightly useless unless you have an American Lexus version instead. $100 is too much to spend for what is offered in 2015. (so no TT, and no UZZ31/32 info is in English basically - aside from my own copy).
Robert, I have tried to do the same, would be happy to have a copy of your workshop manual to fill some of the gaps. I have a full set of USA 1994 Manuals (paper) if you ever need something I can photocopy sections for you in return. My email address is in my profile. Or burn to a CD and postage? Jan

Rob My email address is also in my profile and if you cannot find it I will post it (not sure if we are supposed to or not)my car does not have the air suspension any more so any thing else you think would be a help and is not to much trouble would be gratefully received. I must admit I had not had much to do with any car site before I got my Soarer but it seems to me that it is very well run and everyone is extremely helpful. Most sites I have seen on other subjects just seem to be full of abuse and arguments.

What part are you referring to when you say piston kit?
