Hello I was just changing the brake pads on the soarer this morning but hit a small hiccup. I bought Lucas Brake Pads GDB3235 for the TT as reccommended on here but when i pulled the old ones off a few things were immediately noticeable.
1. there was a clip on each of the pads on one side whereas the lucas only has a single clip for the pair, ie. one has a clip but the other doesn't.
2. the other pads appear to look slightly larger (mainly down the bottom) but i don't know if this is really an issue or not.
3. 2 springs fell out that appear to go in the holes at the top of the pads. Is there an easy way to get them in on the new pads? Do i have to undo the girdle that goes over the caliper (held on by 4 10 mm hex bolts) to get to those holes or is there another way?

To replace the pads: there is 2 x 14mm bolts securing both parts of the caliper together. If you remove one of them(may need to slightly loosen the other), the caliper will open up and expose the pads.
The pads will just slide in. When both pads are in, the little holes for the V looking springs will be visible. Just put them on, and re-secure the caliper. Then done!
The metal thing on the pads would be the warning indicator things. Mine were the same...not really a problem unless one pad is wearing at a much faster rate than the other.

cheers worked a treat.
now is there supposed to be anything to stop brakes from squeeling? all theat was there were the pads, and the calipers didn't have anything noticeable as part of it to stop it (the squeeling). The other pads had a metal shim on it but those shims won't fit on the lucas pads (the brackets are in a different spots arounf the pads and the pads at the bottom are smaller so the brackets don't fit there at all)? The lucas ones do however appear to have an integrated shim on it already :?
Mods I also noticed this should be in the suspension thread instead

Haha, hardly. I'm no brake expert! I just upgraded my brakes, so I had to figure it out the same way, without really having any experience with brakes before.
Damien - I don't know what the go is with the shims that sit on the back of the pads...mine went straight on with Lucas pads....possibly the wrong pad?

did you have the same part number as mentioned in my first post? GDB3235
the noticeable difference i found between old and new pads was that the old pads went right down to the bottom of the disc whereas the new pads are about 5mm to 7mm shorter at the bottom. so the contour of the pad at the bottom was slightly different. The shims mated to this contour whereas on the new pad because it doesn't extend all the way down the shims don't clamp around. At the moment i have left them off but i will find out i guess very soon.

Are these the front, or rear pads you are replacing?
After a quick search, the part number GDB3235 looks like fronts, so I assume it's the fronts you are changing. If the pads you have are that much different than your current pads, I would have said they are the incorrect pads in box, or just mislabelled...as it certainly seems that it's the right part number after searching here.
I didn't order my pads, they came in the kit that I installed...
