hey folks, Im new to this whole soarer thing and just joined up. ok i got a GZ20 1GGTE and the turbos are blown and planing to go with a 1JZ-GTE conversion not sure yet though.. the question is, just wondering on a rough price on how much all together will the conversion will cost me with a 1JZ and 5speed box? and what do i need to get and change for the conversion? or should i just find the turbos and stay with the 1G?

Thanks alot, Heng

I've just got a 1G-GEU changed to a 1JZ-GTE, havn't driven yet tho :-(
The engine and box was $2000 and install with aftermarket parts was $3000.
The 1G turbos I've seen for approx 500, but really depend on how much time and money and etc.
Plus if you go 1J, you'll want newer and bigger brakes, the JZA70 crossmember, tailshaft... just a few extra things.

If you buy a JZA70 front cut it will all bolt straight in.

Your budget is what you want it to be.

New fluids? new belts? new plugs? new filters? new oils? new this, new that.
If you do it properly, budget about 5k-8k on top of the purchase of the front cut to get the car engineered and registered with the new motor. (although, SA could be a lot more expensive with engineering, you'll have to check that.

I used a JZA70 cross member, i had trouble cos i think its a 1J from a z30 not an a70.
aftermarket intercooler, cat, dump pipe, stock ecu, shortened the tail shaft, full 2.5" S/S intercooler pipe.

$2000 for engine and 4spd auto
$3000 (approx) for install.

Im upgrading to DBA slotted rotors and MA/JZA70 calipers, maybe a JZA70 LSD, and i bigger fuel pump to feed the 1JZ.

'SSS automotive' in NSW sell them. not sure, um, 500-ish for the pair. $750 get you a whole GTE engine.

yeah the 1JZ conversion is big, but very good.
