Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum so excuse me if I haven't done my research gud enuf and written too much, please suggest a fix to this problem if you can cheers. My car is an Automatic, Soarer GZ-20 1G-GTEU 1987 with only modifications being ssqv bov and newly K&N pod Filter.

Until a couple days ago i decided to replace my old generic pod air filter with a K&N pod style high flow air filter, to improve fuel and acceleration. The only problem after installing it is I haven't been able to drive the car normally. If i put my foot down the car after a couple of seconds, where it hits roughly 3k rpms, and like 55/60kmph starts surging. The car will jerk back and forward like as if its stuck in a gear, but as soon as i let off the accelerator and apply it back on LIGHTLY it increases the kmph without with none or very rare surging. I have noticed that this may be because the turbo light isn't on wen i apply lightly. Im not a car expert and i am only just near to the auto scene with this being my second car. I read and heard from others about fuel cut defenders, will this balance my air flow to the fuel consumption required, would this be why my car ain't wanting to get any more juice once it. Or is it the spark plugs not firing or something else? Sorry to babble on a bit i am just worried that my engine might be in danger if i don't fix this asap, aswell as i just bought a turbo timer, boost tee and boost gauge which i need to get installed, after this problem is fixed.

Thanks in Advance :-) , Brendan

i would say its fuel cut, the turbos may be producing the boost limit, when the computer realises this it cuts the fuel, once the boost levels are back under the limit it allows injector pulse again. Makes sense as on light throttle you are not creating maximum exhaust flow and hence not maximum boost.

I got a boost controller and boost tee installed and tuned, to only still find it is breaking down due to the spark plug leads and spark plugs. It ran 12 psi happily, so i did wat the guys said n replaced the spark plugs and leads. Only to find a similar problem a few days later. I would put my foot down on the accelerator and it will hit 4 psi on the bosot gauge, and then the car would make a weird flutter noise and engine would rev n car would slow down and pretty much go slow. Any ideas?
