Peter, The rear upper bushes are castellated as per the OEM bushes....I thought it would be a good idea at the time to duplicate the tool Toyota/Lexus had to press them in without destroying the castellated rubber molded to the metal jacket as the tool sits squarely on the metal collar in between the castellated rubber this also prevented breaking the alloy arms (no other reason) One end of the tool was for pressing the old bushes out the the other end for pressing them in.
Burning out the bushes (low heat) is an option only on the front lower arms....this process should not be carried on any of the other arms. Once the old rubber has burnt away the old metal jackets are then easy to knock out...spray the arm with black pressure pack kill rust otherwise it rusts up. Some use a press and some use air chisel and some make a real mess of the arms getting the old bushes out. I prefer burning them out as it is the quickest method.

Digging up an old thread now guys, but the HPi guys used an electric chisel and chipped away at the rubber, then used a pole / vice to whack them out. I'll be doing this when I replace my bushes soon
