Clean around the openings of where the blue plastic filters are to be placed, remove the paper backing from one side of the blue plastic filters and place them over the opening (be sure to check which filter fits over which opening as some are different sizes) then silicone around the filters, we only put small amounts on and spaced them apart.
Leave for at least one hour (good time to make a cuppa or have a coldie) for the silicone to semi-set before attempting to remove the backing paper.
While allowing the silicone to set remove the lower panel which houses the old fluoro tube, there are three phillips head screws holding it to the circuit board.
Then remove the old fluoro after disconnecting the connectors from the board. On the old tube you will see some wires attached to the outside with rubber ends. Take out the wires that are from the old fluoro from the connector.
Undo this tape and disconnect the wires from the tube.
Now you should be ready to fit the new fluoro.
The new fluoro tube is available from Jaycar Electronics and is 300mm long.
Affix the wires with the rubber ends onto the new fluoro.
You will need to fit rubber grommets to each end of the fluoro to support it in the housing.
The rubber grommets will need to have one side trimmed off flat so that the fluoro sits below the top lip of the housing.
Replace fluoro housing back to circuit board (check first that it sits on the board flush otherwise you may break the fluoro when screwing it back in) and using the three phillips head screws tighten very carefully.
Connect the two wires from the ends of the new fluoro to the circuit board as per the following pics.
Reassemble the the boards and place back in the dash binnacle and then refit back in car, and if all is well the display should look like this!
