Personal Quote: | I love all those people who think that cars look best when stock standard, and that any modifications are ugly.... I wonder if they realise that the cars that they so love, are 'dumbed down' and uglified to suit the lowest common denominator, i.e. a 70yr old man who has trouble reverse parking and may bump a few objects with their car. So the manufacturers sink the wheels in to protect them from the curbs, and they raise the car up, and then they put bump strips and soft bumpers on so that they can absorb minor impacts... Somewhere along that they will also make sure the car doesn't look too attention grabbing. Mainstream production cars are designed to blend in, not stick out like a sore thumb!! Have a look at concept cars and the new models they bring out at Motorshows... Funny that they have aggressive stance (lower offset wheels), low bumpers etc. The production cars rarely look half as tough as the way that the designers originally wanted the car to look! So all those people who love the 'stock look' are really just saying "I love the watered-down, plain and compromised look. Pass me my slippers and beige cardigan, I feel a cool breeze coming" |
