Hey guys i have a JZZ30 1991 twin turbo soarer. a few things are confusing me, accoding to wikipedia my soarer is a gt-t, due to the electric seats etc, and then also apparently my model of soarer doesnt have air bag suspension, but in the engine bay it has the air bag suspension control pods above each front gaurd. can anyone tell me whats going on? the car and all the things it does and doesnt have just gets to me.

its still strange cos i still feel like i know absolutely nothing about my car. :-( i have pictures on my myspace in my lexxtc album if anyone can have a look and tell me something i dont know about my car that i should know

my only enquiry is because of these reasons. when i insured with JUST CAR insurance, they listed it as a GT, when its not badged or labeled as one anywhere on the car or its identification plates, and then with the air bag suspension im not sure how they work if thats what it has or not and how to tell... can anyone help me?

turbo's have springs no airbags. You're probably seeing the TEMS which control the dampeners. Turbo's are GTT or GTTL's. V8's are GTL's.

GTTL's have - electrics seats, wood grain trims, dash with scroll function, TEMS shocks (NOT airbags) ect..

The TT's never came out with airbag shock. So dont bother looking.

And Just Car have no idea AT ALL. Just go with what ever they say or they will ramp up the price if you say it's different than what their computers say because they will assume its moddified.

They tryed to tell me that my JZX100 never came with a single turbo 1JZ....and that it must be custom. dikc heads.
I tryed to explaine the difference between the '1JZ' and the '1JZ VVTi', but NO "It must be a custom single turbo setup".
So i told them to get stuffed and went with Vigil.

scroll dash is an LCD with japanese messages on it. Also tells you the exact fuel usage, time, etc.

GT-T is otherwise known as the "pov-pack" soarer. No electric seats; only some had woodgrain fitted by dealer (like mine); different seat fabric; dash did not have the text prompt on the bottom, just a normal gear display; no TEMS; no cruise; no TRC; no ABS...among the few things I can think of at the moment haha. Only luxuries are climate control, electric window/mirrors, and that's about it.

No, it's still velour, only a different (more basic looking) pattern.

Some probably did, optionally fitted. But plenty don't.

But yeah, they are he lightest out of all soarer models.

Hi Guys,

I created this thread to clear up the whole GTT vs GTTL features. Please alter where necessary.

Sounds like you have a GTTL Josh, lucky man. Enjoy

The Wiki article on the Soarer at one time stated that some Soarers were built in Australia!
Naturally, I edited that bit out

Wiki is not all that authoritative, I'm afraid.

Our '95 was "pov pack" but did have the premium stereo, no ABS etc (I think the latter was an option on pov pack). Its model designation was "GT" but of course it might be different for later model 3.0 n/a.

As the years rolled on in production the differences became smaller and smaller (e.g. the late model turbo Soarers all have traction control and ABS)... most of the stuff that's different is internal but then again very small.

Hey,

Another Newbie here (Thanks Josh saved me from asking a whole pile of questions). I was just wondering how to find out a few things about my soarer.

I know mines a GTTL but im unsure about the ABS, LSD or Airbags came with my car, is there any way of finding out?

Its a 1991 by the way....

ABS- brake hard in the wet or gravel and you'll see if it pulsates

airbag - does it say 'airbag' on your steering wheel?

LSD - there is a code on the VIN plate you can find out by, but if you are lazy, drive up on grass and do a standstill lawn digs on it... if only one wheel spins, no LSD :-)

thats the back yard way to try! hahaha i recommend not going fast in the wet or on gravel before breaking hard. just incase you dont have ABS and get LOCK UP and go sliding off into someones yard!

The middle of the seats on the "fancier" fabric is different to the middle on the less fancy iirc.

It certainly feels a lot different.

Yeah it is a different pattern, and different type of velour, yet it is still velour. You got the same seats as my soarer did Callum, have a look, then compare that to cloth seats in your corolla, or a falcon, or any other car with cloth seats. They certainly are not cloth on the pov-pack soarer.

Nah they arent that type of cloth =P

I dont know what velour is, but people have been throwing around "cloth" as the term used for the crappier seats for ages so thats what i have associated them with >.>
But they definitely are of a different material.
